70s-80s WTVS/Detroit question

I have no idea on this one... anyone else? Hit my inbox today:

My wife and I are going crazy trying to remember the name of the chef who had a cooking show on PBS in Detroit in the late 70's or early 80's and also had a restaurant off Southfield Rd at the back of a plaza with a tennis club in Beverly Hills (I think). His restaurant had a fixed menu and two seatings a night. Can you help please?

I think the place was called Duglas Duglas.

I can't vouch for the spelling, but I think that's the place. IIRC, his restaurant was hugely popular until it got savaged in a review by one of the daily newspapers. It closed shortly after that.
